Replacement needed for AX-4008Q/620KV

As we all know the AX-4008Q/620KV has been discontinued for quite some time now. Mine finally got lost…it decided to leave the plane mid flight and fly off into a swamp. So now I am looking for a replacement. Personally I found the 620Kv was just a bit under powered still when flying against the nitro powered combat planes out here. So I decided to try the Racerstar 3508 700Kv which is recommended in the 3DLabPrint Gang F4U Corsair. I bought 2 of them…one for the Corsair and one for the next plane I print. But I am having an issue with them. Whenever I get to about 90% throttle or if I throttle up fast the motor seems to stall out and I hear a kind of screeching noise coming from the plane. I’ve tried all of the settings changes I could find on-line for troubleshooting my ESC (Tried with both a 40amp and an 80amp YEP ESC) and so far nothing has worked. So I’m thinking there is some incompatibility between that line of motor and my ESC. Has anyone found any other good alternatives?16.7.19 at 08:06 #409552

What prop size are you using, have you measured the rpm that you can get before the motor stalls.16.7.19 at 19:17 #413752
That is a 9×6 prop. I have not measured the RPM.17.7.19 at 19:39 #421906
Well the motor specs say it is rated for up to a 15×5 prop…but I can only guess that the specs are written for a multi-rotor copter which has 3 or more additional motors also providing lift and thrust for the vehicle. Because it can’t even turn a 9×6 prop. I dropped down to a 9×4.5 and changed the startup speed to medium and now the motor can throttle up properly…I just hope it will be as fast at 700kv with a 9×4.5 prop as my old 620kv motor was with a 9×7.5 prop.23.7.19 at 19:36 #460093
Is this working now?23.7.19 at 19:41 #460105

I finally found a good replacement motor for the AX-4008Q/620KV…The DYS BE4215/650KV! The power specs are all quite close to the old AX motor and it spins a 9×7.5 prop just fine. I’ve put one in my P-51 and it flies the same as it did with the AX motor in it. The only downside is the motor shaft isn’t long enough and the bolt on threaded shaft is too thick for my spinners. So I took a longer shaft out of another motor and replaced the shorter one in the DYS. https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32923329749.html?spm=a2g0s.90423126.96.36.199cb4c4d15XFkf01.3.20 at 14:33 #1401848raulet881Participant
Yo utilizo el Racerstar Racing Edition 4108 600kv, con pala 15*55 carbono y tiene potencia mas que suficiente para hacer trepadas. Es muy eficiente, mas de 10 minutos de vuelo con 2200mah 6S.
